Apply to join a cohort of the Learning Collaborative

Overview

The Learning Collaborative is a team-based 7-session virtual program designed to help school divisions develop comprehensive suicide prevention plans that align with VDOE guidelines for suicide prevention. Using hands-on, scenario-based learning, your team will work alongside other Virginia school divisions to identify, develop, and refine policies and protocols for prevention, intervention, and postvention. We’re accepting applications until September 14th, 2026 for our second cohort.

Cohort 2 will launch October 13th, 2026 and be active through April, 2027.

Expectations

The Collaborative is Team-Based.

Teams are comprised of multiple participants from a division. Each team is expected to…

  1. Have a minimum of 2 individuals from your team attend each structured session

  2. Each team member completes the pre- and post-assessment

  3. Engage team collaboration between sessions to continue protocol revisions

  4. Willingness to collaboratively address strengths and challenges put forth by other division teams during LC sessions

Requirements

The Learning Collaborative (LC) consists of the following:

  • Initial division team meeting with LC facilitator (15-30min, prior to Session 2)
  • Completion of pre-assessment (30min)
  • 7 structured sessions (1.5hrs each)
  • Completion of post-assessment (15min)
  • Follow-up team meeting with LC facilitator (15-30min, after Session 7)

Optional: Following your completion of the LC, join bi-annual meetings to receive updated information, share ongoing successes and challenges with other divisions, and practice table-top exercises. Meetings are open to all past Learning Collaborative divisions.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all communications between the Collaborative and your division team
  • Facilitate recruitment of your team members
  • Ensure a minimum of two team members are able to attend each session
  • Guide team collaboration between sessions
