Connect Suicide Prevention Training

Empower your school community to take action in preventing suicide. The Connect Suicide Prevention Training is an interactive program designed to equip school personnel with practical skills to recognize warning signs, intervene effectively, and link individuals to the right support.

Grounded in a proven public health framework, Connect helps participants understand suicide through the lens of the individual, family, school, and broader community. More than just training, Connect builds collaboration through shared understanding across roles and systems. This helps create a coordinated, compassionate response that strengthens school and community safety and wellbeing.

Training is available in-person or virtual and typically lasts 4.5 hours (plus breaks) but can be adapted for your school or division’s needs.

Counseling on Access to Lethal Means

CALM is a best-practice interactive suicide prevention training that teaches practical skills to reduce risk by increasing time and distance between individuals in crisis and the most common, lethal means of suicide, especially firearms and medications. Training provides the rationale for means safety and helps participants recognize risk, start compassionate conversations, and collaborate on safety planning while respecting individual rights and autonomy.

Training is available virtual or in-person and lasts 4 hours. This training is for school-based mental health professionals and anyone in a professional helping role (e.g., case managers, school resource officers, school administrators, school nurses). Receive hands-on practice for having effective, collaborative conversations with students and families about reducing access to lethal means during periods of elevated risk.

Our next workshop is February 16, 2026, from 12:00-4:00pm. Location: Virtual (Zoom).
